While we’re used to a society that provides us with boundaries made of rules, when trading in the Forex we find ourselves in an “unstructured environment.” This may at times prevent individuals from achieving true potential.
In an environment without structure, a person is responsible for his or her own actions. And in most instances, individuals want to be led by the hand and told what to do. Very few accept responsibility for their actions or take charge of their destinies. Those who do, usually excel at whatever they set out to do.
So the answer is to create rules to live by or to trade with. In this case, we’re not referring to the rules that your introducing broker has established. But those which you need to create in order to work with and succeed.
When the market moves and you’re wrong about your decisions, all sorts of psychological issues rise to the surface. But a trader who lives and trades by a set of rules understands that after a loss comes, certain steps need to be followed. With experience, you won’t be tempted to break your own rules. You’ll find that the disciple you’ve acquired has led you to improve your abilities and to make more money. A proper work ethic is thus essential for looking at a profitable future and confronting the culprit, which is usually lack of discipline.
Learning about bar charts isn’t as crucial as understanding what you need to do to succeed.
